Laura Lee

Paul and I teach together as a team. We’ve put in our 10,000 hours, with over 25 years with Ecstatic Trance Postures, and 20 of those years teaching this the same way that Felicitas taught us. We have served as Co-Directors of the Cuyamungue Institute since 2011. We’re thankful for ever hour we spent discussing this work and its implications with Felicitas, over tea with her or over the phone, and it is a privilege to grow and expand this work. We’ve conducted workshops at CI every summer for a decade, added to CI’s extensive Archives, expanded the research into a variety of fields, and are at work on new publications. It’s with new eyes that we view museum collections and the earliest artifacts left by our ancestors, as well as their worldview, their experience of the Cosmos. We find this work endlessly fascinating, utterly mysterious, and it’s opened doors to international invitations to travel and teach from Paris to Sydney to Munich and Malta, to collaborate on a major art museum exhibit and choreograph a performance piece based on CI’s core teachings. Now people in over a dozen countries join us through Zoom every week. To our ongoing experiential sessions, we’ve added discussion forums with guests in various fields to further dialogue with our growing community on what our collective ETP experiences mean. And we continue to delight in seeing the wonder and astonishment of those taking their first journeys, as we do in every journey to the Alternate Reality, as we pay it forward.”

Paul Robear

It was at the Cuyamungue Institute in the early 90’s that Paul, with wife Laura, attended their first workshop with Felicitas, forming a deep friend- and mentor-ship with this extraordinary teacher. Joining the Board of Directors in 2010, Paul was soon elected President and Executive Director, at the helm of the overall strategic and operational mission of CI’s programs, facilities, and execution of its mission.

Paul’s life-long appreciation of indigenous wisdom traditions inspires him to look for practical solutions for today within the “age old” technologies and teachings that have stood the test of time — by making them accessible in our time.  Paul still applies his extensive experience in management, multi-media distribution, sales, marketing, and publishing gained in creating a media company to make leading edge wisdom accessible to a wide audience. He is devoted these days to expanding upon the work of the Cuyamungue Institute in making the many gifts and joys it offers to a global audience by teaching this work.

Deborah Jane Milton, PhD

With a doctorate in Human Development from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania , Deborah has been facilitating creative expression and inspirational workshops in natural settings for more than thirty years. An artist, mentor, eco-psychologist, risk-taker and mother of four, grandmother of eight, she moved to Montana in 1980 from Philadelphia . She found her retreat center, Athanor Arts, in the wild country north of Missoula in 1999 and thought she would stay there for the remainder of her life. But fate, luck, passion and purpose play tricks and in 2009 she moved to the Pacific Northwest . Here, she is immersed in human community, family, and the inspirational fecundity of this watery world and the northern temperate rainforest.

In February 1993, after spending two months in solitude, she discovered Felicitas Goodman’s book Where the Spirits Ride the Wind and her life changed forever. She met both Felicitas and Belinda as quickly as she could and was certified to teach Postures in 1996 and has been doing so ever since. Interest builds quickly now in the Northwest, perhaps because the tidal wave of cultural change is mounting and the call increases for integrating the body/mind and expanding awareness of our interconnectivity. Ongoing groups are beginning here and the first regional masked dance happened in August 2011. Another is scheduled for August 2012. You can read a chronicle of our experience on her blog: www.awakeningstorylines.com beginning with a post on 9/5/11.

As Deborah’s relationship to postures has evolved over the years, she finds them infinitely adaptable, always surprising and richly integrative. She is who she is in the world because of this connection to spirit(s) fostered by the Cuyamungue Method..

Anne Miller

I first stumbled upon Felicitas’ work in 2001 and began my serendipitous path down to the southwestern desert and the Cuyamungae Institute. It has been a long but satisfying journey and I am happy now to be an instructor of ecstatic body postures. Both the researched postures and personal experiences with postures found here in Canada at petroglyphs and other sources have provided me with a deep healing in both my personal life and professional life. I am extremely grateful to Felisitas and her work.
I hold weekly postures during the summer months in a Lokatota style tipi in my backyard.  Like the kivas of the Pueblo peoples in New Mexico it is a sacred space reserved solely for ceremony and ritual.

Julie Nichol

Julie was first introduced to ecstatic body postures during a year-long Shamanic course in 2003. Although The Bear Posture and the Nupe Mallum were just two of the dozens of Shamanic rituals that she undertook that weekend, she was drawn to spend the next five years studying and practicing the postures alone, until, in 2008, she finally tripped over to the Cuyamungue Institute! She is delighted to be a certified teacher, holds workshops in Sussex, England, and attends summer festivals where she can introduce people to the wonders of the postures. Recently, Julie has been appointed as the Adult Education teacher in Shamanism for West Sussex County Council! What a leap of faith for a government body! She would love to hear from you.
